Assignment of Responsibilities under the
Public Service Management Act 1997

Acute Care Division is responsible for:
Developing and overseeing implementation of policy and performance oversight in relation to acute hospital services nationally. This includes scheduled and unscheduled care; major trauma; the new children’s hospital; maternity services; pre-hospital emergency care; Hospital Groups; cancer services; organ donation and transplantation services; blood and tissue services; patient safety and quality in acute hospitals and North South co-operation.
