Nursing/Midwifery, Mental Health, Drugs Policy and Social Inclusion Division is responsible for:
Developing and overseeing implementation of policy in relation to the nursing and midwifery profession; providing strategic leadership and expert nursing and midwifery advice to the Department, Government, broader health system and regulatory and professional bodies;
Developing and implementing mental health policy and ensuring an appropriate Mental Health Legal Framework is in place; overseeing implementation of A Vision for Change in conjunction with the HSE and Government Departments; implementation of Connecting for Life – Suicide Prevention Strategy 2015-2020;
Development of national policy in relation to drugs including the implementation of the National Drugs Strategy 2009-2016; managing and overseeing the Department’s input into national policies to address social inclusion.
