Housing - To drive the Government’s policy on housing in accordance with Rebuilding Ireland – Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness
Planning - in particular ensuring that the appropriate strategic policy and legislative planning framework is in place to promote sustainable economic growth and balanced regional development, e.g. through development of a new long-term National Planning Framework
Local Government - policies related to the development and reform agenda for the local government sector, including in relation to organisational and structural matters and the provision of oversight and governance; commercial rates; staff sanctioning and related HR and IR processes; the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management and Local Government Finance.
Water - Water Sector Policy, including the governance and funding of Irish Water and the Ervia Group, the oversight of the Group Water sector and the implementation of the Water Framework Directive, the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
Met Éireann - Ireland's National Meteorological Service is the leading provider of weather information and related services in the State. Its mission is to monitor, analyse and predict Ireland's weather and climate and to provide a range of high quality meteorological and related information to the public and to specific customers in, for example, the aviation and agricultural sectors. As a scientific and technical organisation, it strives to utilise the latest technological and scientific advances in order to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy of its forecasts.
Corporate and Business Support - the corporate functions of the Department including ICT; HR; Facilities Management and Communications; the Franchise function; Finance and Accounts; Strategic Business Support Unit and Statistics and Data Analytics.
Heritage - managing the Irish State’s nature conservation responsibilities under national and European law; formulation and implementation of policy relating to Ireland’s architectural heritage; responsibility for built heritage including the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage.
